The 36 stratagems are part of the same tradition as Sunzi’s Art of War. Both works, two classics of the Taoist strategy, deal with a science derived from the human behaviour, and an advanced psychology of the human weaknesses and forces in the strategic context of seeking to control the others. In that sense, each stratagem is a kind of key to undermine from the foundations the willingness to fight and the psychological balance of the adversary: this is the way of inducing him to do something without realizing that he is doing it, or creating in the contender some kind of restlessness.
